David: How did you find this item?

Marlo: It was collected using a hand dredge in about 6 inches of water off a sandy, rubbly bottom along the intracoastal waterway. I found it among the dredge material when sorting it under the microscope. When I first saw it I thought it was a piece of a broken valve, but closer examination revealed it to be a complete specimen. Next came a quick search in Abbott and later a confirmation from Harry. Paula Mikkelsen also treats it in her new book. It's the only one I've found.
