Chama florida Lamarck, 1819, Pretty Jewel Box

Rusty posted Mar 3 2016 on LTS forum:

To me chama florida tend to be rare, strongly connected to the coral reefs of Jupiter beach south to keys. They are also the smallest chama because of their short lifespan so beached ones except for their bright pink with a hint of purple are easy to miss. That color, which is strongest on the top which is the oldest part of their shell then decends what's left of their scales in dots becoming white on newer sections. Loses most of scales before beached all I have is the top hinges but hadn't gone to those beaches much to see if it's unique to me or common to other people.
