I made this first-time trip to Edgewater just to see what's there.

Edgewater is about five miles south of Ponce Inlet (the northern border of the Indian River Lagoon) and experiences daily tidal flows.  I was there at a low tide when the sand bars and numerous oyster bars were exposed.

The habitats included soft sand with few grasses, muddy sand with oyster-lined shorelines, and exposed sand bars.

I spent about 1.5 hours trudging through the soft sand and over exposed flats and shoreline.  Few live mollusks were observed and only a small number of dead shells.  Started out sunny, but an approaching storm cut the effort short.
