Conella ovulata (Lamarck, 1822), Ovate Dove Shell

12/12/22  Upon reviewing this shell Susan Hewitt commented:

Steve’s shell is quite worn and the spire is worn down, which I think is probably why it is not stepped. Also I imagine that the pitting is due to erosion.

 

I find this species only quite rarely on Nevis or the other nearby Leeward islands I have visited.

 

And assuming that Conella ovuloides is indeed a real species, (it is accepted by WoRMS), it is a lot rarer still.
